The Genealogy Library Collection
Do you want to start researching your family history but need some guidance? Why not come along and join the Moruya & District Historical Society Genealogy group?
The Genealogy Research Room is located at the rear of the Museum at 85 Campbell Street, Moruya. There is always a volunteer on duty who can help and guide you in your research.
Membership of the Historical Society entitles you to full use of the Genealogy room.

Our entire collection has been catalogued and entered into a database.
This can be searched on the computer in the genealogy room or if you prefer there is a printed version of the catalogue you can consult.

Our growing collection includes :- Australian Births, Deaths and Marriages; Post Office Directories; Family Histories; Cemetery Transcriptions; Convict Databases; Immigration Records; Mining Records; Vital Records Indexes; Various English and Irish Records.
Microfiche and Microfilm
Items are too numerous to list but they include all Australian States Births, Deaths & Marriage records, sections of the Archives Resource Kit, various convict and immigration records, IGI, 1881 British Census. The collection also includes the Local Newspapers from 1856 on Microfilm.
Books and other Printed Material
Most of these items are available for loan to members unless marked Not for Loan. Major topics covered by the collection are:-

We exchange a number of magazines with other family history research groups. These are available for loan and are indexed,
with an email newsletter being sent to members to keep them up-to-date on what is in the latest publications.
